Let's Play Segagaga- Chapter 1 ~Segagaga Start!~

Here I'll walk you through the first chapter, explain the menus, show you the battle system and teach you how to recruit staff.

I recommend you watch the above video to get a feel for the game, then try playing for yourself. Keep a second screen like a smart phone or tablet close by, open up my full translation video so you can easily switch back and forth to understand the story and other dialogue at your leisure.

Though I intend to come back to chapter 1 at some point to make improvements to the translation, this is it for now. Starting today, work on chapter 2 begins.

Thank you for your support!

Segagaga Save File - Start at Level 169 with 20% Market Share

If you'd like an easier time with Segagaga, try downloading this save file from the online VMU save database, Blue Swirl.

This can be done by connecting online with a Dreamcast via Dreampi or a broadband adapter. There are a few other methods involving save file editors and whatnot but I'm not familiar with them so better to do a Google search.

The save file in question starts you off at level 169 with %20 market share which will give you a bit of a safety net should you struggle with the game development sections from chapter 2 onwards. It also unlocks all entries of the Reference Room, so that's nice too.

Anyway, the save file can be found here https://bswirl.kitsunet.org/vmu/save/public/liste.php?lg=en&menu=on&path=S%2Fsegagaga.

Chapter 1 - Segagaga Start! - Video Capture with Translated Subtitles

Well, it's been a long week, but the hard work is beginning to pay off. While inserting the translation into the video as subtitles, I realised how far from perfect it is, and I will likely continue to edit and improve bits and pieces over the course of this journey.

For now though, this will do. I don't want to spend too much time fretting over the fine details... at least until I've made my way through the remaining eight chapters.

Hope you enjoy it guys and gals... I'm knackered.

Please leave a comment, follow the Facebook page or something.

Let me know that there are people out there who want this!!!

Mogetan and Teacher's Game Question Time! Episode 1

These are a series of silly videos found between the chapters of Segagaga. They were filmed by two of the developers hidden behind the Sega sign outside their old headquaters in Haneda, Tokyo.

I had the pleasure of visiting the headquaters and taking a picture next to this very sign about eight years ago. Since then, Sega have moved their headquaters to Shinagawa.

Turn on subtitles to see the translation!

Segagaga Chapter 1 - Segagaga Start! - Walthrough and Translation PDF

The first version of my Walkthrough and Translation PDF has arrived. It's far from complete but should contain enough information for you all to get a basic grasp on the game and make your way through Chapter 1 - Segagaga Start! I'll also be posting a translated let's play and video guide to YouTube in the next couple of days if you'd prefer to wait for that.

Enjoy!

About

Mantra

Translation, Accessibility, Preservation.

Translation
Translate absolutely every last bit of text held within the Segagaga GD-ROM; dialogue, menus, option screens, everything!
Accessibility
Make the game and translation accessible to all, in a variety of forms:
  • Complete digital text translation including original Japanese
  • Captured footage of game with subtitles
  • PDF Translation Guide
  • Patched game with English translation (this is a long-term goal that is beyond my current skillset. For the time being, I'm focusing on the other three bullet points)
Preservation
Big projects like this are monumental tasks that are sure to encounter problems along the way. Who knows what life has in store for us, right? I want to present all of my work, piece by piece, so should something happen to prevent me arriving at completion, someone else can pick up the torch without starting from scratch. This is also why all of my screenshots and videos are recorded in high quality 60fps x2 integer scale.

All my work is open source, do with it as you wish.... just give me credit for it please!
