About

Mantra

Translation, Accessibility, Preservation.

Translation
Translate absolutely every last bit of text held within the Segagaga GD-ROM; dialogue, menus, option screens, everything!
Accessibility
Make the game and translation accessible to all, in a variety of forms:
  • Complete digital text translation including original Japanese
  • Captured footage of game with subtitles
  • PDF Translation Guide
  • Patched game with English translation (this is a long-term goal that is beyond my current skillset. For the time being, I'm focusing on the other three bullet points)
Preservation
Big projects like this are monumental tasks that are sure to encounter problems along the way. Who knows what life has in store for us, right? I want to present all of my work, piece by piece, so should something happen to prevent me arriving at completion, someone else can pick up the torch without starting from scratch. This is also why all of my screenshots and videos are recorded in high quality 60fps x2 integer scale.

All my work is open source, do with it as you wish.... just give me credit for it please!

We need your help!

Those with Japanese ability:
The Reference Room includes information on every enemy, item and creatable hardware and software within Segagaga. First and foremost, I need the Japanese text copied into digital form, but if you'd like to try your hand at translating them, that would also be fantastic.
Those with Photoshop or other artistic IT skills :
There are maps of each area in the official Segagaga guidebook. If anyone would like to offer their skills in recreating these maps digitally, they'd be doing a great service for the Segagaga community.
I'll also be making a PDF translation guide, if you can overlay English translations onto screenshots of menus, that would also be of great help.
Those with creative writing ability and/or a good knowledge of grammar
Please help proofread the translations I've made on this site and suggest possible changes.
Those with experience programming in the homebrew Dreamcast scene
We need people who are capable of putting our translations into the game. If you can find a way to do that, you'd be an invaluable asset to the project.
